Very true Martha. Lots of times census takers spelled names like they sounded to them. Example being Courtney Wilson was listed 1860 census as Coatney. Must have been southern pronounciatio of Courtney Have u read the online Grant Co. 1860 census looking for your Levi? Might help u.
