Thanks for responding! Since I posted that message, I have found some more information about my Conn family. (From 1850 Census, Potontoc Co., MS) Levi B Cohn/Conn, b. c1811, KY; m. abt. 1833?, Elizabeth Duke, b. c1814, AL; d. Poinsett Co., Arkansas 1) Rebecca Conn, TN, 1834?; m.. Clinton W. Jacobs 2) Sarah Conn, TN, 1835?; m. Edmond Little Jacobs 3) Greene Conn, TN, 1840? 4) Elizabeth Conn, TN, 1842? 5) Robert Conn, TN, 1844? 6) Martha Conn, TN, 1846?; m. Albert Gideon Briggs; d. 1879, Paris, TX (From 1860 Census, Poinsett Co., AR) 7) Mary Conn, 1851? 8) Perry Conn, MS, 1853? 9) Columbus Conn, MS, 1855? (1870 Census, Poinsett Co., AR) 9) Charles Conn, MS, c1855? (same as Columbus?) 10) Malissa Conn (sister?), MS, 1846? I believe this information to be pretty reliable. I guessed the birth years from the ages given in the census, so they may be off a year in either direction. The family story goes that Martha Conn Briggs was 100% Indian, either Cherokee or Choctaw. She died when my grandmother was a baby. My grandmother and my father's aunts and uncles looked Indian. However, I haven't found any documentation. I think Levi Conn was somehow connected to the Jesse Wilson Conn family in Floyd County, KY, but I'm just guessing based on similarities in family first names. He isn't the same Levi Conn who was Jesse W. Conn's brother, though. Elizabeth Duke Conn's sister Caroline married Robert Conn, who may have been Levi's brother. I found biographies on the Internet for Edmond Little Jacobs and a son of Clinton & Rebecca Jacobs. Both men were medical doctors in Poinsett Co., Arkansas. I'd love to hear more about your family.
