Hi Richard,
My ggrandfather was born in Pa. and so was his father,I'm not sure of his father's name but that was info from the 1880 census and his death certificate. A William is buried in the family plot in Phila.,PA., It's possible he's Jackson's father. I found a Jackson Conn on the 1870 census in KY. and am trying to find out if that's my Jackson. Shaw is the middle name that my ggrandfather gave to one of his sons, it seems to be the thing to do back then, give your son the surname of your friend as a middle name. My greatuncle's name was Rueben Shaw Conn.
Do you have a connection? Mary
