Andy,
The John CONN I have was already living in Beckwith, Lanark Co. in 1820 and I think I read somewhere that he was there as early as 1816 along with Hugh CONN. Hugh, aged 39 in 1830 when he died has the distinction of being the first one to be buried in the Beckwith Cemetery which was /is on a corner of one of the original Kerfoot farms.James Conn has the honour of being the first recorded settler in Beckwith. I still don't know exactly when my Thomas arrived. He could well have been there with the others in 1816. His wife MaryAnn Willoughby arrived with her parents abt 1821 after that of her mother's brothers the Kerfoots who came in 1818,first to Napean(Ottawa) then the next spring to Beckwith.
Linda
