I know of the Ethel you are mentioning, but my Ethel is someone entirely different. I have an obit for Ethel McClelland that indicates she is survived by three siblings, Eunice Reed, Harmon O and Alex Conn. That is the first I'd heard of the Conn name in regard to Ethel. In researching the Conn name of Douglas County I found Harman S and Mary E Canutt Conn and their children, Alex, Harmon O and Eunice...but I've yet to find Ethel listed as a child/sibling of this group. Wondering how the obit can state they are her siblings, but she's never listed anywhere else! According to her death cert she was born in Oakland, OR on 10 Jul 1873 and died 23 May 1949 in Crescent City, Del Norte, CA. Her father is listed as "Driver" and mother as "Mary." This fits with Mary Canutt Conn also as her first husband was Samuel M. Driver, whom she divorced in 1871. My mother-in-law remembers her from many years ago coming from Coos Bay area, where I do find her living in the 1920 census with her husband, James G. McClelland. Ethel had a son, Richard Carvel Hyland, who I am also tracking, but having very little luck. I'd be happy to join your group to see if something definitive about my Ethel can be figured out. Please let me know how I can join your group! Thanks!
