My 5th great-grandmother is Aletha Conn (c.1776 MD-c.1850 TN), sister to Eleanor who married George Caperton. Aletha married Thomas Fowler in Madison Co, KY. She is the daughter, I believe, of Josiah Conn, son of Hugh Jr, son of Rev. Hugh of MD. He is in the Madison Co, KY census of 1792 as well as later.
Do you have anyone with a middle name of Elson? There was an Archibald Elson in MD at the same time as the early Conn's. Both Aletha & Eleanor Conn have many generations of descendants with Elson in their names. This may be a clue to their mother's maiden name and may be another common ancestor.
