I just happened upon your post while surfing the net.Although I have not yet begun researching my Conklin ancestors, I do have tidbits written by my grandmother, about her mother Laura Anderson and grandmother Ellen Conklin, a few years before her death at age 92.She may have mixed up a few names/marriages, but she was one sharp lady for her age.Perhaps you may find some connection in her writings.

COLE, who fought side-by-side with his friend John Anderson through the Civil War, would visit Ellen in NY and also the children in Suffern and Haverstraw. One day he asked Ellen to marry him to make a home for them all which they did.Jacob also wrote a book on the Civil War.
