Who is Alanson Henry Conklin???

Does anyone out there know who Alanson Conklin is? He was born in 1829 in West Hills, Long Island. He moved to New Jersey and died there in 1911 but is buried in Long Island. Does anyone have any info. on who his parents may be? My husband's great grandmother was Catherine Conklin and we can't trace her line any further past Alanson? Could he be descended from John or Ananias Conklin? Please help if you can. Thank you.
