Kathy,
I read your message about John and Ananias and all research
I have and have read from the Conklin-L list on the web is that
these two brothers came over from England approx 1635 and settled
initailly in Salem ,Mass. Later to move to other places like East Hampton,
NY and Morristown, NJ.
Church records in England list these brothers with a last name spelling
of Conklin, not Conkelyne. Records indicate that once in America, some in the
Ananias line added a "g" to the end of their name. My last name is Conkling and
after a lot of help from people on the Conklin-L web site and some research I
am sure of the spelling.
I highly recommend that you subscribe to that list (free) and recieve all
postings automatically to your address. You should look for listings by Honor Conklin.
She is a librarian in New York who has been studying these lines for some time. You
can post messages to her there and find out more for yourself.
Good luck !!!
Sincerely,
Russell Conkling
