Looking for family, descendants/relatives of MAUD CONKLIN b. ca.1885 who was living in Closter, New Jersey in 1930 with sister Kate and niece Grace (1930 census). The 1910 census shows mother Della and sisters Kate and Della. Likely the daughter of John E. Conklin and Della Conklin from 1900 census living in Harrington, New Jersey. We may be searching for the same ancestors; James and Sarah Conklin. I have a copy (from Footnote.com databse) of a hand written letter written in 1930 to the Commissioner of Pensions, Washington D.C. requesting information about the Revolutionery War pension of James Conklin - Soldier from Haverstraw, Orange County, NY. She mentions that her great aunt told her that her great grandfather was in the war and received a pension. Her great grandfather's name was James Conklin and his father was Joseph Conklin. She mentiones that her great grandmother's name was Sarah Strawl Conklin. I also have a copy of the letter to Maud from the Commissioner of Pensions stating that records show that Joseph Conklin's widow (who remarried) applied for a pension in 1855. There is only one record of a denied pension for James Conklin. The James Conklin I am researching was born in 1763 so he would been only 14 years old in 1777 and likely been only involved with a local militia. If you know this Maud Conklins family, please post a reply. Tom Conklin Notify Administrator about this message?
