Pat: The record is a bit confusing. From "East Hampton History" by Rattray, I read: "CORNELIUS 2 (s. of Ananias 1) b. 1636 d. 1700 m. 1st __________; m. 2nd Esther, dau. Stephen Hedges; ch. Cornelius 3 b. 1690, William 3 b. 1695" However, from "The Conklings in America" by Conkling, I read: "Cornelius Conkling chose to live in Salem. He married there, and had two children, Cornelius and William. The Conklings mentioned in Massachusetts records are supposed to have descended from this branch. Cornelius Conkling died March 21, 1668. His widow, Mary Conkling, married as her second husband Robert Star on December 30, 1669, a widower with two children. Three children were born from this second marriage--Mary, Sarah and Hannah. Robert Star was killed by the Indians in 1670, in King Phillip's war." Sounds like these 3 children were Star's and not Conkling's.
