Cheryl,
Owego is the magic word. Aaron Putnam Conklin is the only member of the James Conklin (Jr) family who left the Owego area in the mid-1850s. I am descended from James' brother Jacob Conklinwho was also a wagon maker in Owego. I have notes that James had children William, Charles, Aaron Putnam, Adelia and Elizabeth. That is all I have on James' line other than most of them remained in the Owego area, formed the first band in Owego. There is more written about the family in the book "Early Owego" by Leroy Kingman. A. Putnam was also mention is the probate activities of his father James and that A. Putnam was living in NYC and married to a Julia. I show children of James' son William as; Charles, Ella and William. I show a daughter Adelia b. ca 1849 to A. Putnam and Julia. I believe Aaron Putnam was named after a family minister from the Owego area. Maybe have more to share. Contact me direct at [email protected]
