I believe I am related to Roscoe Conkling. My father was Frank Arthur Conkling, born at Thomas, Oklahoma . His father was James Berton Conkling (6/7/1879-3/27/1927). James' was the son of George Scott and Ada Elizabeth Van Trump Conkling, and a grandson of James and Sina Rebecca Clark Scott Conkling, and a great-grandson of Henry Conkling (born 1/8/1780 in New Jersey-died 7/2/1826 in Pennsylvania)on the paternal side, and on the maternal side a grandson of Isaiah and Jemima Parish Van Trump, born June 7, 1879 in Mills county, near Red Oak, Iowa. John Conkling was probably the first to emigrate to America. He lived at Nottinghamshire, England. He married Elizabeth Allseabrook, January 24, 1625. They had two sons, John and Ananias. They left England with their two sons about 1635 and landed at Boston, and settled at Salem, Massachusetts. They engaged in the manufacture of glass, and in the early land grants they are described as "glass men". Their establishment is said by some historians of American industries to have been the first one of the soft in this country.
