While I can't help with the Conklin line here, there are 3 different Smith families involved, and I have some data on them.
Jerusha Smith, wife of Jacob Conklin, was a daughter of William Smith (___-1834) and Mary [prob. Davis] (c. 1790- ___).
-William was son of William Smith (1751-c.1792) and Catherine Smith (1753-__).
-William was son of Obadiah Smith (1721-1794) and Elizabeth Chichester (c 1726-1769).
-Obadiah was son of Obadiah Smith (1687-1765)and Susannah Stevens (c1693-1770)
-Obadiah was son of Samuel Smith (c 1654-1717)and Hannah Perring.
-Samuel was son of Richard Smith (c 1613- 1692), founder of Smithtown, and Sarah [poss. Hammond] (poss. 1624-c 1708).
The Catherine Smith, b. 1753, wife of William Smith in the above line was also a descendant of that couple. Her parents were Joseph Smith (___-1785) and Sarah Saxton.
-Joseph was a son of Joseph Smith (1685- c 1754) and Mary Aldrich.
-Joseph was a son of Job Smith (c 1647-c1719) and Elizabeth Thompson.
-Job was another son of Richard and Sarah.
Norman L. Smith, the son-in-law of Jerusha (Smith) Conklin, was descended from two other Smith families. His parents were Nathaniel Howard Smith, Jr. and Deborah (Smith) Smith.
-Nathaniel Howard Smith, Jr. was a son of Nathaniel Howard Smith and ____ ____.
-Nathaniel Howard Smith was son of John Howard Smith Jr. and Elizabeth Ireland.
-John Howard Smith Jr. was son of John Howard Smith (1721- ___) and Sarah Brush.
-John Howard Smith was son of Zachariah Smith and Huldah Hand (1693-___).
-Zachariah Smith was probably a son of Thomas Smith (c 1665-c 1738) and ___ ___
-Thomas was a son of Nicholas Smith/Seversmith, aka Claes Severts Smith, and Mary Tibbals.
Deborah, the mother of Norman L. Smith, was a daughter of Wessell Smith (1767- ___) and Mary Ackerly.
-Wessell was a son of James Smith (1742-1837) and Catharine Blydenburgh.
-James Smith was a son of William Smith of Brookhaven, Long Island, and [prob.] Jane Sell.
