My information states that Conklin is a compound word derived from the name "O'Lynn" and the "conk" shell. The O'Lynns came from Antrim, Ulster just East of the Lough Neagh. Eventually the "O'" was dropped and they adopted the name Lynn. The clan members were assembled by blowing on the conk (not sure that is spelled right) shell, hence the name Conklynn. I have a map that shows the O'Lynns living on the east of Lough Neagh between 1300AD and 1600AD.
