I have been doing Congrove research off and on for years. My line comes from my father Robert J. Seymour, whose mother was Mildred Jeanette Smith. She was the daughter of Liberty James Smith and Mary Elizabeth Congrove. Liberty’s mother was Margaret J Congrove and father Francis Marion Smith.
I have the death certificate of my Margaret J. Smith. It was signed by her husband FM Smith. It has her birthdate of 03/25/1846 and her death 11/30/1918.
The one problem I have with this death certificate is what was written for her mother and father. I had concluded that her parents were George Washington Congrove and Julia Coleman but the death certificate has an S Congrove for father and an H Harley for the maiden name of mother.
If you can shed any light about this situation I would be more than happy to share any information that might be useful to you.
