I am the gg-grandaughter of Amos Congdon (Joseph6, Benjamin5 ,Joseph4, Benjamin3, Benjamin2, John) who was born 4 Dec 1824 in Wallingford, Rutland Co., VT and died 19 Jun 1906 in Waits(Owego), Tioga Co., NY, a Civil War Veteran. He was the son of Joseph Congdon b. 22 Apr 1766 N. Kingstown, Washington Co., RI d. after 1850 in IL, and Hannah Brown, who died after 1860 in the Litchfield, Oneida Co., NY area, which is very close in proximity to where her son Amos lived. Like you, Hannah's family has been a mystery until recently.
Joseph Congdon's father, Benjamin, b. 28 Aug 1732 N. Kingstown, Washington, RI d. before 1793 in Tinmouth, Rutland, VT, showing that he migrated there with his family.
I recently attended a genealogy conference in Boston where two of the professional genealogists that I worked with believed Hannah to be the daughter of Jerimiah Brown, Jr. b.7 Jan 1748 in S. Kingstown, married 29 Sep 1776 Eleanor Lillibridge b. about 1755, daughter of John Lillibridge 2(Edward1+ unknown)and Susannah Segar2(John1 + Alice Hull4(Joseph3, Tristam2, Joseph1)). Jeremiah and Eleanor had a daughter named Hannah b. 19 Nov 1780 in S. Kingstown, Washington, RI. I will research further (vital records) and be in touch.
