I'm not from Daniel Mackhoe's line. I'm from John Mackholme.
Also from the info on that bulletin board it'll come as no surprise that it is not Mackhoe but Mackhone hence MacCone and then Cone.
And surprise! The clerks got it wrong again with Mackholme which in fact was MacKone but for some reason my ancestor John decided it should be MacCoone hence me - Roger Coone.
If you decide to pursue the ancestry I would appreciate it if you would keep in touch and let me know what you find. I have a feeling that Daniel Mackhoe and John Mackholme are related.
As you have probably found out Daniel Mackhoe was from Edinburgh (or so it is claimed). The birthplace of JohnMackholme/MacKone/MacCoone is claimed to be Aberdeen.
Both started out as MacKones. MacKone can be the Anglicisation of MacEoghainn (MacEwan) or MacEoin (MacIan).
My interest is very much on the Worcester Prisoners and their origins and I am writing a booklet on them and their possible ancestry.
