Condray Family Genealogy Forum
I spent last Sunday and Monday in Soddy and the Chattanooga library. I spoke with Mrs. Davenport who is the historian of the Soddy Cemetery and she says that there are no Condras buried in Soddy. I cannot find Lester and Martha anywhere except the 1850 census. I found Amanda in Etowah County, AL., with all of her children and the cousin David E. Cannon that I told you about seeing in the 1870 census. Apparently Alonza died in TN. I am really frustrated with my inability to find Lester, Martha, and Alonza. I found two James Condrays in Marion County that had sons that could be Lester but I am not confident at all. I visited the Condra Family Cemetery in Whitwell but nothing there. I have even checked all the states where Condrays have migrated but no trace of them. Please, can you help? I spent Tuesday in the Gadsden, AL library and that is where I found Amanda in Etowah County. Amanda was living with Ellen Condray Brannon and Oliver Brannon in the 1900 census. In the 1880 census every one spelled the name Condra but in 1900 every one was spelling it Condray. For your information John W. married Lou Elizabeth Brannon, Molly married a Davies, Sterling married Frances Pendergrass. I spent today at the Nation Archives in Forest Park, GA., and did not find a thing new. I have reservations for tomorrow and Friday also. And I have determined that the Thomas Condray, born 1857, died as a child as I can find no trace of him in later census. If you want any information on the clan in Alabama I will be happy to share. Which one of Old William's sons or grandsons do you think I have descended from? Or maybe I descended from the brother that Old William went to visit. I am against a brick wall.
Thanks for all of the help you have given me to date.
