The surname Condon is common in northeast Washington State among members of the Native American tribes in that area (the town of Nespelem which was mentioned in the original message and on the Colville Reservation). I believe the original Condon ancestor(s) was an employee of the Hudson's Bay Company which had several posts in the Pacific Northwest in the early to mid- nineteenth century. As it was a British enterprise, many Scottish and Irish men worked for the HBC in the U.S. and Canada.
I'm not sure which branch of the Condon family that area is connected with, but it shouldn't be too difficult to find. The history of the HBC is very well documented, with a vast number of records archived in Canada.
I grew up in Chicago, but lived several years in NE Washington State. My branch of the Condon family is from Cherryville, Co. Kildare, and emigrated to NW Illinois (Lee Co.) ca. 1845-55. I know very little else besides that.
