Condon was originally a family of Norsemen who migrated to Normandy, France then to Wales. Their home was Pembroke castle in western Wales. Nicholas de Caunteton married Mabilia sister of Raymond Le Gros Fitzgerald. They were children of William Fitzgerald of Carew and grandchildren of Nesta(daughter of Prince of Wales Reese) who married Gerald de Windsor. Mabilia and Nicholas were part of the Norman invasion of Ireland and were awarded lands around Cork and Tipperary around 1100ad. The area became the Barony of the Condons. 26 castles were built and the family became Irish.
