Edward M. Condon M.D. Your information seems pretty accurate at least according to what I have. A very good source, and enjoyable reading is a book "The Norman Invasion of Ireland" by Richard Roche. Published by Anvil Books 45 Palmerston Road, Dublin 6, Ireland. It is a paperback book. My information is that Nicholas de Caunteton married Mabilia, sister of Richard le Gros Fitzgerald. They all went to Ireland as part of the Norman invasion. Nicholas was awarded the lands around the Blackwater which is on the border of Tipperary and Cork later to be known as the Barony of the Condons. There is still an area today known as Condontown. When I visited Ireland, I went to the Grand Hotel in Fermoy and happened to meet a gentleman by the name of Christie Roche who informed me of the long held fued between the condons and the Roches. He also directed me to one of the many still standing castles built by the Condons. In Michelstown, I visited a cave which is one of the most beautiful and unique caves in the world. It was discovered by a Michael Condon. I have no further information about Nicholas or his parents. I do have the names of some of his children. I also have information about Mabilia's family. Her father William Fitzgerald of Carew and Nesta (Helen of Wales). e-mail me at JoeCondon@aol.com
