I have been doing in-depth research on the Condon family. Mine is in Fedamore Parish, a little further north from yours, in Co. Limerick.

Are you aware that there is a Barony [ a land division) called the Barony of Condon & Clangibbon? It is in the NE corner of Co. Cork, on the border between Cork, Limerick and Tipperary? Many Condon families are strung out like pearls along an E-W line from Fermoy east into Tipperary.

My info about the family name is that it is Norman, was de Cauntenton, later changed sometime in Norman times to Caunton (which I believe is a village in or near Wales). Info comes from my librarian cousin (Condon) in Manchester, who also sent a copy of an excellent history from the Cork Historical Society in 18(99?) I'm not sure of the date.

I'm delighted in this serious research.

PCB
Granddaughter of Margaret Mary Condon,
b. 1853, Co. Limerick (possibly in parish
of Kilbehenny, still searching)
GGGranddaugher of William Condon,
Margaret's father, a shoemaker.[ Could
be the son of John Condon & Bridget
Dundon, married 1814, in Fedamore Parish. Their Wm. was born in 1817 and
baptized in Fedamore Parish.]
