I have a John Whitfield Condit in my family. He was my father's Watson E. Condit's uncle. He was born May 28, 1856 in PA. He did enlist in the Civil War on August 9, 1862 in Le Claire, Scott County, IA. But he did not die in the war. He died February 27, 1929 in Oakland Calif. Could this be the same man. I have pictures of him and his family and another one of him working on a farm after moving to Kansas.
