Not exactly true. Look at the book "Condits and Cousins" - that is all "us". Sarah Cheeves is in there, as well as the Vadens, etc. They started out in New Jersey and the families split, one stayed "north" and spelled the name with only one "t" and the other branch went south - i.e., North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, and then to Texas, Oklahoma, etc. The information on Sarah Cheeves is on pages x, xi and 2. It has her father & some of the other part of the family. Fielding Conditt was the first Conditt - his first name was actually John, I believe (there were several in the family who were brothers that were named John; it also happens later with the name James". The name of the book is actually "The Conditt Family" now that I got it out and looked at it. Fantastic book and totally chronicals our line - by the way, I descend from Fielding and Sarah "Sally" as well, and I have been researching this very ELUSIVE line of folks for about 25 years now.

Happy Hunting
