Heather,

My grandfather's name was Pasquale Conte. He came here from Abruzzi,Italy in the early 1900's. When he arrived at Ellis Island, they misunderstood him and wrote our name as "Conti". Everyone thinks my name was shortened but it was CONTE. I beleive spelling it as "conti" is a Scicilan name. Conte is not Scicilan. I hope this helps.

Jean
