I can't give you a true answer to this question, but I recently found a Conder living in Geneva who was from a branch of Polish Conders. They have a family story of having come over to the Palatine with a Scottish army in the 1700s. So it's possible that some "German" Conders were originally Brits, isn't it?

My branch of Conders traces its line back to the 1400s, and my parents are the 12th generation of Conders to live in that house (Terry Bank, near Kendal in the UK)
