Hello again,
Doreen thanks for that interesting story. Unfortunately, I know nothing about my Concannons of Gort, except that my Grandfather, Michael Concannon was born in 1889 there to James Concannon and Bridget (Nora) Holland. His brothers and sisters were: James (who came to NY), John who came to Boston, Mary (Boston) and Agnes who never left Gort. THere was no one to take over the land and when Agnes died the government took the property.
I was in Gort this summer, but was unable to locate anything. The Concannon name no longer exists in that area I was told. But, I'm searching through land and baptismal records (in my spare time).
My grandfather immigrated to New York and that is where we all live. We live on Long Island, unfortunately about 30 miles from Ground Zero, the WOrld Trade Center horror. Although we are only 30 miles it is not like the city here. As mentioned by sister-in-law is from Sydney. My husband has a first cousin in Austraila - NSW, is that near you? (Sorry, I'm not familiar).
