Conboys in the Royal Irish Constabulary
There were 19 Conboys who served in the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) according to a book I recently purchased "The Royal Irish Constabulary : A Complete Alphabetical List of Officers and Men, 1816-1922" by Jim Herlihy
(an excellent work)
I found one Austin, one Daniel, one Frederick, three James, two Johns, one Martin, three Patricks, one Peter, one Stephen, and five Thomases. If your ancestor served, check out the records of the General Register. This text gives the service numbers, and cross references these to the Volume number and again to Microfilm reel numbers at various research sites, including the LDS family history centers so that by ordering the proper reel of microfilm you can read the original records of service. Included in these records is the native county of the individual, the native county of the wife, if married, the various counties in which he served, in order of service to each, plus other handy details.
