Looking to perhaps correct some information on the net about a distant relation of ours.
I was doing some research on the maker of an antique chair that we own, that was passed down thru my grandmother. Turns out it was made by FH Conant's Sons' Inc, of Camden NY. see this link for an image of a page out of a book:

I was excited to find that, since both my husband and I are descended from Roger Conant, we are both related to Mr Francis Conant, and his sons... the makers of this chair... well, the owners of the factory where this chair was made anyway ;D
but in looking at ancestry,com there is a lot of incorrect information there about him. at least incorrect according to this article and according to the Frederick Odell Conant genealogy of the Conant family that I have. He is listed on pg 509 of that book. the information online is all unsourced, and gives the wrong birthdate and wrong marriage date in most cases, and wrong birthplace in ALL cases. He was born in Albany NY. not Stow MA. He did live in Stow MA a couple different times, but wasn't born there.
the article gives the same date, Sept 19, as his DOB and date of marriage, and I think they just goofed on that. The book gives his DOB as Sept 19, 1815 (which they both agree on) and Oct 25, 1836 as his date of marriage (which they agree on the years, and which is a date mentioned online, tho there are more than one date on ancestry.com, again, unsourced)
they also in one case show a Francis H. Conant Jr, son of Francis H. and Mary Gates... but they didn't have a Francis H. they had a Francis N, who died as an infant and a Francis E. who was killed at Antietam.
just thought I might catch some people who might do research in both places... I know I do.
