helen, my dad name is matthew connachan born in bathgate, scotland but family was from donegal, ireland. alot of names lost their spelling when people arrived in this country at ellis island, n.y. we lost the c in our name so now its connahan. try going into the passanger ship list and see if you can find a name. do you know where your family was from?... good luck
