Message 817 in this forum tells how to access an online book of Comstock Genealogy. Looking for “Bagsby” in that book just now, I found nothing. There were 33 entries for “Elmer”, not necessarily “Elmer Comstock”, which you might check out. If you have trouble searching that book, please let me know.

Looking for an Elmer Comstock with date of death in 1972, I found this:

(The dates are only close, not exact. You can find the same information by looking for “Elmer Comstock” at www.familysearch.com ) Did your Elmer Comstock die in Illinois?

According to another part of the “Frequently Asked Questions” at that site,
“The Social Security Administration makes copies of the original Social Security application form (the SS-5) available to third parties who request information on a deceased individual. A standard letter to the Social Security Administration is available with the search results on the Ancestry.com Social Security Death Index. To generate the letter simply click on the "write letter" link available with all search results in Ancestry's SSDI.”
So, you might write to the Social Security Administration.

Bryan Comstock died in the 1918 flu epidemic. Was your Elmer Comstock the son of another Elmer Comstock? Do you have any additional information, such as places of birth, residency or death? Names of any relatives?
