I am interested in Comstock research but don't know if I can help much.. Emeline Comstock is named on my Grandfather'
s (Carol B. Smith Sr. b 9/22/1881 in Woodbine, Whitley County (Joe Field), Kentucky. His father may have abeen named James. Emeline's sister Mary E.Comstockb. 7/22/1840--d. 10/23/1908 is buried in Pine Hill Cemetary in Corbin, Whitley County, Ky. Buried in the same vault is Col C. C. Comstock (data unknown). Family verbal history says Emelins husband--Smith-- was originally a Fontella who took the Smith name out of respect for the man who raised him. He died as a result of wounds received in the Civil War. My grandfather's middle name was Breckenridge, so I assume they were Confederate. I would be interested if anyone has family traditions that connect or blood line connections. I will continue with my research and submit any new findings.
