He's very possibly the son of Heman Noah COMSTOCK (26 Jul 1763-1819). Rootsweb has a listing for Nathaniel born 6 Apr 1806. Based on biographical information concerning Heman, this Daniel would have been born in Otsego Co., NY. The father moved to Bath, Steuben Co., NY where he was a physician. Thus, the census listings for Nathaniel in 1850 and 1860, showing him in the general area of Bath, would seem to be consistent. I could not locate the family in 1870. If this genealogy is correct, Noah Bird COMSTOCK, for whom the Comstock Lode was named, would have been his nephew.
