Marmaduke's Salisbury's father was David Salisbury, who lived in Glocester, Rhode Island. David's deeds are full of references to Smith neighbors, and while Smith is a very common name, I have wondered if William Smith was a neighbor of David's in Glocester. I think it a worthwhile possibility to see if you could find the marriage of the Comstocks in Glocester or that vicinity. David's brothers did not leave Glocester until about 1796, and I think Marmaduke would have been old enough to have married by then. But I do not know where Marmaduke was between the time of his witnessing a deed of his father's and when he shows up in the 1820 census of Harmony, Pennsylvania. Some records show he was in Ontario, Canada, but I have wondered if that was a mistake from the info that he was in Ontario County, New York with his brother, John Salisbury. I would be interested in hearing if anyone knows Marmaduke's whereabouts between Glocester and Harmony. - Patra Anne Hepworth
