Excel to GEDCOM converter

hi, anyone have any luck with this? I am attempting the same thing and determined to make it work.
No reason why it cant be done so long as a standard format is conformed to, which is easy enough to do.
I tried SmartGenealogy but its a few years old and only works with Excel 2003. It also doenst tell you what the format is, but it can handle both import and export, so i was going to make a dummy database, export (see what the format was) then make my excel file conform to this format and then import into a database and then export as gedcom.
I can see that it would even be possible for Excel to do everything itself because a VBA programmer should be able to get it to create a textfile (gedcom) in a certain format based on the contents of the excel. But i am not a programmer and its been a long time since i did some basic VBA in excel.
