I found more detail. Daniel Comp seems to have been married before. There are several Daniels in Perry County Pennsylvania, but the 1850 census suggests he was married to Lidy (Lidia A. ?). They seem to have sons Samuel and George. Lidia Comp is later institutionalized in Perry County. Although census data showed alternatives to Jacobs birth, a marriage record shows he was born in Nora Township, Jo Davis County, Illinois. Jacob Comp's first wife Emma or Emily Ross is in the 1880 census in Maine township, Linn county, Iowa with their first child Lily (Lillian). They are two doors away from the Daniel Comps. Jacob Comp, and a William Drumbarger are laborers in another household in 1880. (Emma and a second child may have died during childbirth.) I have newly discovered records that Jacob had a second marriage to a Melinda Sheckler born in Rocky Grove township, Stephenson county, Illinois. They married on 06 Feb 1882 in Anamosa, Jones county, Iowa. I have no information about any births or divorce. I find her later in life in that area in which she was born with a brother and possible sister. Jacob's third marriage was to Mira Haney from which springs most of the line. However, I just discovered another live birth of a son Jacob on 12-2-1897. He is not in the 1900 census or in the parent's obits. Lavina Comp Owens, with husband John and daughter Jennie are next door to the Daniel Comps in the 1885 state census. A stone in the Dunkard Cemetery in Linn County is marked "Owens" in proximity of Daniel and Margaret Comp's stones. It is marked "Mother" b.2/11/1856, d.10/23/1893 and "Father" b. 7/24/1851. These are the most specific dates I have found for Lavina. The 1900 census has the Comps and Quimby and Owens next door or together. Notify Administrator about this message?
