To Malcolm James Commander My daughter, Robyn De Long, gave me some geneology information recently that I didn't know she had. A note from you was included, dated October 08, 2001. My father was Thomas B. Commander. I have been searching for the geneology work done by a woman who contacted my father in the late 50's or early 60's. You mention a woman named Beatrice Brown Commander and I am wondering if she is the person who contacted my father. As I remember from conversations at that time, her husband was a Commander and a retired Navy officer. I believe that she was living in Florida at the time. She was researching the Commander family name. I remember that she told my father that his great, great(don't know how may greats) grandfather came to South Carolina from England in the early 1700's. If you do indeed have this material, I would be most interested in obtaining a copy. I would also be very interested in learning about the English Commanders. I was in England back in 1993 and looked up the name in the phone directory in London. I found three Commanders listed but didn't have the time to contact them. I have only recently become interested in geneology research. I am in my late 70's, in good health, and find becoming a detective at this late stage in life quite stimulating. I will greatly appreciate hearing from you. Sincerely Barbara Spengler Sacrament, California bspenglr@winfirst.com Notify Administrator about this message?
