Mr. Arthurs,

There is a whole branch of the Comfort family that migrated out of the Elmira, NY area to the Williamsport, PA area. I haven't done the full-blown research, but I like to believe we are direct descendants of the Robert Cumfort (notice name spelling) who hit Long Island in 1675. My evidence? Practically every following generation of his I found had a "Benjamin" or "Mary" in it. My Dad is Ben Comfort, Jr., my oldest brother is Ben III, his son is Ben IV . . . Dad had a sister Mary, and named one of his daughters/my sister Mary.

Not sure if any of this helps you, as I do not have specifics, but feel free to e-mail me to ask other questions about the New York/PA Comforts with which I am familiar. At some point in time, I will probably ask you to provide me with something that validates the legitimacy of your search, but for now, I hope I have provided a little piece of the puzzle.
