Barbara, Thanks for your reply. I am desended from Martha "Zadie" and John Pole Ledford. My Great Grandparents were Venar Eula Lee Ledford & Samual "Sam" Hughes. I saw from one of your earlier posts that you believe that Jesse Jay was married to Mary Leakey "Lakey"- I believe she would be his first wife. I have found this line in my research as well as the other info you mentioned. It's all very confusing to say the least. I did see info. indicating that Jesse bought/sold land with Thomas Hicks. As always it is unclear if this is our Jesse and what his relationship may have been with Thomas Hicks. Have you seen anything that may point to a Jesse Combs marrying a Betsey Stephens on Nov. 2, 1799 in Caswell county NC? Is there a connection for us here?
