I am interested in this name, "John Combs". A man by this name moved to Nova Scotia from Virginia c.1800. He was the first of three by that name - my grandfather was John Combs III. The family now spells the name "Coombs" but an early census has it spelled as "Combs" and my grandfather always pronounced it "Combs." Roland McCormick.
