Years ago I searched the Combs website top to bottom. It ended with a Stephen Combs who no one knew what happened to him.Some thought the Stephen Combs in Mo might be the one. I sure dont know and am still trying to find out if he is the father of my greatgrandmother. She was named Nancy and married a Fips/Phipps sometime around 1847 as she had a 2 year old girl listed in the 1850 census. She was then married to my grandfather, Abel Friend. She was just 22. Stephen Combs and wife Cynthia were living next door to the Friends in Schuyler Co Mo. His oldest child at home at that time was Andrew Combs 20. She must have been quite young when she married and I am assuming her first husband (Fips/Phipps) died. Unfortunately what happened to her occured in the years between census,s and so far I can find no record of her. I hope someone on the Combs list recognizes some of this.
