All of my information pertains to the surname of BURRUS, not BURNS. Various spellings are BURRUSS, BURROWS, etc., and my records go back to a James Burrows who immigrated to James City Co., VA between 1635-1650.

Cynthia "Burns" is really Cynthia Burrus. The census taker obviously mispelled the name. Her maiden name was Mills. She was married to Roger Tandy Burrus on Jan. 8, 1790 in Orange Co., VA. She was residing in Hempstead Co., AR in 1850 in the household of her daughter and son-in-law (David Roland Cockerham & wife, Rebecca (Burrus) Cockerham).
