Matthew Tomlinson Combe married Louisa COURTOY in South Australia and settled in Bendigo Victoria Australia. He had siblings, we think they were orphans, born Hove and Hooe Sussex to Matthew Combe and Jane Manser.
There are several people researching various branches of the family, Orange and Forbes NSW, Sydney, and in and around Bendigo Castlemaine areas. A good sized tree is being compiled with lots of interesting information.
Mary Campbell Combe may have married James Edwards 1900 in Sydney and then moved to South Africa. A letter dated 1947 has her living in WAVELEY Johannesburg, with her adult children named as Phyllis, Maysie and Pat, and older son, was dead. Mary who called herself May was then aged 73. We think her husband James or Jim may have been a lawyer, or perhaps even a judge in South Africa but cannot find any information to confirm the stories.
Mary had connections with CALMAN and TRUMBULL families who had connections with (we think) Cape Town. Possibly these 2 families were involved in trade. Thomas Trumbull is buried Cape Town, he was a wool buyer.
