Colyer Family Genealogy Forum

What made me think that Elizabeth might be his wife is that the oldest son was 25 which could have resulted from her marrying at 20. Also this son would have been born when John was about 50. Of course, Elizabeth might have been married to another Colyer who had died, and she went with her family to live with John. There are other Colyers in Kent who are descended from my ancestors (and there are others in Nottingham, France, USA, Australia and New Zealand). The Colyer family has spread all over the world! Until about 1800 the spelling was Collyer or Collier. For some reason, about 1800 various families started to use Colyer as the spelling.
