Thank you for all the information.
John was a miner in Yorkshire, I have Charlotte and Richards marriage license and he is listed a deceased at the time of the marriage March 17, 1856.
I don't know when he died but it was prior to that.
There is another man in England that works on the Colyer line and he sent me some info that said Johns parents were Ambrose Collier and Ann? Ambrose was a boot and shoe maker in York but I have not double checked any of that.
I have a lot of info on Charlotte and her children, Charlottes daughter Charlotte came here to the states in 1909 with her husband Alfred Nelson and daughter Hilda Pretoria.I would love to talk to you, If you would like to send me an email we could talk more and maybe exchange phone numbers?
