She was actually my great grandfather's sister so I think it makes her my gt gt aunt or something like that. Charlotte had a sister Sarah born in Yorkshire who was slightly younger. Unfortunately her trail goes cold. Charlotte also had a brother (my gt grandfather) John Arthur b. 25/12/1837 in Battersea, Surrey. He travelled to Australia in the mid 50's and ended up in India where he married 1) Sarah Carpenter 2) Evelyn Marie Humphreys in 1883 - my grandfather John Alfred Colyer was born in 1884 in Bihar, Buxar India. Evelyn died when John Alfred was quite young and John Arthur then married Mary Deverell, again in India.
Don't know too much about Charlotte/John/Sarah's father, only that his name was John and he was a miner who probably died shortly after Charlotte was born. Their mother's name was Sarah Stokes b. 1811. Her father was John Stokes b. 1787 Loose Kent and mother Charlotte b. 1795 Dover Kent. Believe they also had a son Allen Alonzo. Sarah Colyer (Stokes) remarried in 1845 to Thomas Butcher b. 1804 and they had 3 children - Martha and Mary twins who died young and Ann Butcher b. 1852 who married William Usborne and had several children.
This is the basic information I know but I am still working on it. Some of the dates are quite approximate. If you can fill in any gaps I would be very grateful to hear from you. Also I can give you further info about Ann Butcher and John Alfred if you require it.
Regards. Tracy
