This is not my "Collier" family, but I have a digital copy of the main published source. That is the 90-odd page "Caljer Family" section from “Early settlers of Bushwick, Long Island, New York and their descendants,” by Andrew J. Provost, Darien, Conn.: , 1949-1963,Vols 1-4, 624 pgs. This may be available in some libraries, and a CD version is available for under $20 from GenealogyCDs.com. Your Phoebe Colyer is likely the daughter of Charles (6) Colyer and Martha Whitson, probably born in Huntington, LI on January 31, 1803. I say probably, because her place of birth is not specifically given in her brief entry on page 77 of the “Caljer” book. She is listed as the 9th of 14 children of Charles and Martha. Phoebe is traced no further in the book, so her marriage, children and so forth are not corroborated in it. The main entry for Charles Colyer is given on page 74. He was born Mar 27, 1769, died Dec. 7, 1817. He was a large landholder on Long Island, and lived at least for most of the period 1790 to 1811 in Huntington. (There is more detail on his life given, but I am unable to copy it for you tonight.) His parents were John (5) Colyer (1730 – 1782) and Sarah White of Huntington, covered on page 73 of the “Caljer” book. All of these individuals are shown by Mr. Provost and his collaborators to be descendants of Jochem Caljer and his wife Magdalena Waele, who were in New Amsterdam about 1639. If you are unable to see or obtain the Provost book I could send copies of the relevant sections to you. Wade Collier “Colliers of Massachusetts” project Notify Administrator about this message?
