My grandfather's sister, Mary Ann Colyer, married Philip Schmidt in 1879. He was born in Germany about 1853. In 1881 they had a daughter Alice M. Some time after 1881 they emigrated to the USA and changed their surname to Smith. I think they lived in or near Chicago. Any descendants out there?
