Regarding Moses Colyer

I am Janice Colyer, from Wayne, NJ. Moses Colyer was my great, great grandfather. I hope this information can help you. A good source for NJ Colyers is Scannells NJ First Citizens and State Guide, 1927, Vol VI)

The Colyer Family is one of the old families of the state of NJ. The homestead on Fairfield Road, Mountain View, Wayne, NJ has been in the family since 1735. Mountain View, NJ was also known as Meades Basin, NJ for many years. They are an old Holland family of Revolutionary stock. Many of them owned canal boats and worked on the Morris Canal in Wayne, NJ. They were primarily farmers. The Mountain View farm was purchased in 1735 from King Ryerson.

Strongly connected to the Caldwell First Dutch Reformed Church, Fairfield, NJ. Buried there are Henry Colyer and Elizabeth, Thomas G. Colyer and Dorcas, Moses Colyer, and Hester.
